2-1-1 Maine is a comprehensive statewide directory of over 8,000 health and human services available in Maine. The toll free 2-1-1 hotline connects callers to trained call specialists who can help 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Whether you need to find after school care, counseling or elder care or other information, there are three simple ways to connect to 2-1-1 Maine.

Dial 2-1-1: You can dial 2-1-1 and be instantly connected with a trained and friendly specialist ready to help.

Visit 2-1-1 online: You can enter 2-1-1 Maine.org in your internet browser and directed to the simple-to-use statewide directory.

Text 898-211: Enter your zip code and a contact center specialist will begin a text conversation with you.

For providers - How to Become Part of the Directory: Providers of health and human services and emergency resource services are encouraged to contact 2-1-1 Maine regarding their organization and services for inclusion in 2-1-1 Maine’s Web-based Resource Directory. History and More Information: The first call center was opened in Atlanta in 1997 and the first statewide system became active in CT in 1998.  2-1-1 is currently operational in all 50 states, DC and Puerto Rico.  Maine was the 33rd state with service and the 15th with statewide coverage. On July 6th, 2006, 2-1-1 was launched in Maine!

2-1-1 Maine is a program that everyone can use.  Since its start in 2006 through 2015, call specialists answered over 723,794 calls with more than 69,284 from York County.

Maine’s 2-1-1 service was launched in July 2006 and is a partnership between United Ways of Maine, the State of Maine Department of Health and Human Services, and The Opportunity Alliance as the Contact Center. Call Specialists provide information and referrals 24/7, 365 days a years and Resource Coordinators keep the database of over 8000 Maine services current and accurate. The 2-1-1 Maine Program Manager serves as the liaison between the Contact Center and the Board of Directors, promotes 2-1-1 Maine across the state and seeks innovative partnerships that serve the people of Maine.
