Born Learning is an innovative public engagement campaign that helps parents, caregivers and communities create quality early learning opportunities for young children.
In York County, there are 10,311 children ages 0-5 (Kids Count 2012). This Born Learning campaign provides information and activities to parents, caregivers, and communities to find everyday early learning activities for these young children. By creating additional Born Learning Centers and new Born Learning Trails, we will directly reach this targeted age group in all of York County’s 29 communities. Through promotion and use of the portable kit/trails, additional families and caregivers of young children will be able to access these important early learning materials.
- Born Learning Centers provide informational one-sheets to parents and caregivers of young children. These helpful handouts cover the topics of Your Child @ (Birth to Age 5), Nutrition, Sleep, Childcare, Early Learning, Healthcare, and Learning on the Go.
- The Born Learning Trails provide children and their caregivers with the opportunity to learn through 10 interactive sign activities; to explore and engage their surroundings in urban and rural environments, as well as on the go with the Portable Born Learning Trail! Print the Born Learning Trail Pamphlet to do the activities at home!
