Emergency Food and Shelter Program

The Emergency Food and Shelter Program (EFSP) is a federally funded revenue stream that is facilitated by the United Way of York County (UWYC) for all of York County. Once applications have been reviewed by the Local Board and allocations made, awards are sent directly to local York County organizations.

Over $70,000 was distributed to local organizations for EFSP Phase 38. Awards can be granted to eleven different categories, with Phase 38 resulting in a majority support to these three themes:

47% supported food insecurity through served meals or distributed meals

38% supported rent or utility assistance

13% supported housing and shelter

With a very specific lens, the EFSP process allows UWYC to support organizations that do not otherwise receive funding from UWYC.
